Notes on Pierre Bonee:  The 1900 U.S. Federal Census indicates that Pierre Bonee was from Cuba and other genealogists have conntected him to Baracoa, Cuba.  This is quite plausible given that in that area of Cuba there were quite a few french families who operated Coffee and Cotton Plantations.

Notes on Marie A. Belhomme:  Justice of the Peace Marriage records indicate that Marie was a "free woman of color".  A. Belhomme appears in the 1860 US census as a native of Jamaica and a Mulatto, however the 1900 US census has her from Santo Domingo.  In all records she is recorded as either mulatto or black.  It is most likely that she was from Santo Domingo and would have met Pierre in Cuba.  Many refugees from Santo Domingo settled in Baracoa, Cuba.  They were married in New Orleans as an older couple and probably had their children a little later in life than usual for that time.
